Selective enrolment

Our school is a partially selective high school. We have a selective and non-selective stream. Our selective stream is for high potential and gifted students in Years 7 to 12. For Year 7 entry, parents apply when their child is at the end of Year 5 or the beginning of Year 6.

Each year, a limited number of places may become available in our selective classes in Years 8-10. Entry into a selective class in Years 8 to 10 does not depend upon a centralised procedure as for entry into Year 7. Applications are managed directly by Blacktown Boys High School.

A selection panel will convene to consider and assess applications based upon the evidence submitted. Successful candidates are notified by email in September of each year.

It should be noted that often there are no vacancies in Years 8 to 10 and successful candidates may be placed on a reserve list.

Step 1: All applicants for entry in Years 8-10 for Blacktown Boys High must apply using the Years 8-10 Selective High School Application Form which is available online: NSW DoE Selective High Schools Application or from the office at Blacktown Boys High School from mid-June each year. For 2026 enrolment, the application form will be available from 18th June, 2025. The closing date for application forms is 25th July 2025.

1. School reports for the past two years.

4. Proof of citizenship or permanent residence status where applicable (certified).

5. NAPLAN results from the previous two NAPLAN tests.
