Canteen Menus That Promote Healthy Choices

Healthy Canteens Australia create canteen menus that offer a huge variety of fresh healthy foods.

We are the first private operator to comply with the new Healthy School Canteens Guidelines.

We understand that it is both ours and the schools responsibility to help students gain an understanding of how what they choose to eat each day impacts their mental and physical well being.

In High School, all of our canteen menus offer bottled water as part of our meal deals to encourage our students to select this instead of other drink options.

There has been a strong demand for us to educate students on the nutritional value of foods to help them to make healthy food choices.

This has been a huge success as it places the responsibility on students to learn and understand Kilojoule counts and make better choices. This is a real world, education initiative.

Important Update: Temporary Canteen Price Changes (Term 2)

To our school community – Students, Parents, Carers, and Teachers

We want to let you know about some temporary price changes in our school canteens, starting from the beginning of Term 2.

Like many businesses, we’ve recently been impacted by significant increases in supplier costs due directly to the Global Fuel Price Rises.

Our wholesalers have introduced temporary fuel surcharges of between 6–10% due to global fuel price rises and supply chain pressures.

This is in addition to the temporary price increases of the actual products we buy for the canteen.

On top of this, fruit and vegetable prices have increased by approximately 55%

In total, this has added approximately $16,000 per week to our costs.

Unfortunately, these increases are outside of our control.

To keep our canteens running and continue providing fresh, healthy food for students each day, we will be applying a small, temporary price increase.

The overall impact at the canteen will be around 3.85% on average.

We’ve worked hard to keep this increase as low as possible, and it is only to cover the higher costs we’re currently facing - not to increase profits.

What this means:

• Price adjustments start: Tuesday 21st April 2026 (Term 2)
• Average increase: ~ 3.85%
• This is temporary and will be removed at the exact times that our suppliers remove their temporary increases.
• We have been advised that they will review on a quarterly basis (end of Term 2).

We understand that any price change can be challenging, and we appreciate your understanding.

Our focus remains on providing affordable, nutritious options for students every day.
