Career Transitions Team at BBHS

- Careers Advisor - Mr Hodges

- Transitions Advisor - Ms Marsh

Our Careers and Transitions advisers work closely with students to ensure successful transition from school to work or school to further study. The Career and Transition advisers support the school in ensuring that all students are known, valued and have the opportunity to engage in activities and programs to prepare them for a successful future beyond school.

Opportunities provided to BBHS students include:

- Job readiness workshops: Delivered on site at school, the workshops cover everything from interview advice to grooming and wardrobe tips to help prepare students for their first jobs. These workshops help students develop vital skills that improve their employability.

- ABCN: Australian Business and Community Network- Our school is one of only a handful of NSW schools that were selected for this amazing opportunity. Students work closely with 50 leading businesses and organisations that provide structured workplace mentoring and experience. Businesses that students from BBHS are currently working with include: CBA, Microsoft, Optus, Telstra, OKTA.

- Subsidised training course/certificates: For example: White card certificate for students interested in working in the construction industry, Barista training

- Careers expo:

- Work experience program Years 9-12: The Careers team works closely with community organisations and employers provides students with valuable work experience opportunities.

- Educational seminars and workshops: BBHS students are regularly invited to participate in educational workshops and seminars delivered by industry professional and educational institutions. These programs help students get a more meaningful idea of the industry they are considering working in. The most recent workshop run at the school was from The Academy of Interactive Technology who conducted an informative session on working in the creative tech industry.

- Yes+ Tafe programs: Provides students with the opportunity to participate in short tafe courses designed to be taster courses so students can get an idea of what a career in that industry entails. Yes+ programs include courses in Aviation operations, Nursing, Robotics, Cyber Security, Plumbing, Landscaping, Barbering, Retail, Hospitality, Sport & Fitness, Bricklaying and more.

- Alumni mentoring: High achieving students who received scholarships regularly attend school to provide students with mentorship and assistance with applying for relevant scholarships.
