PDHPE Faculty Outline
Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.
According to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), students are expected to participate in PDHPE for 300 hours per year in Years 7 to 10.
PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.
The PDHPE faculty consists of the Head Teacher Miss Lovering and a group of dynamic and enthusiastic staff who look forward to educating the young men of BBHS. The PDHPE staff are committed to providing a learning environment that will enable all the students at BBHS to learn about their health and wellbeing during PDHPE classes. We encourage all students to participate in both the theoretical and practical components of PDHPE and look forward to assisting all students to achieve their personal goals throughout the year.
Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) is an integrated area of study that provides for the intellectual, social, emotional, physical and spiritual development of students. It involves students learning about and practising ways of maintaining active, healthy lifestyles and improving their health status. It is also concerned with social and scientific understandings about movement, which lead to enhanced movement potential and appreciation of movement in their lives.

PDHPE Uniform
PDHPE combines theory and practical education to create a collaborative and engaging learning environment. Due to personal hygiene and WHS requirements, students are required to change from their school uniform into their school sports uniform for practical classes. The sports uniform consists of the school's maroon polo shirt, black shorts or tracksuit pants, school hat and appropriate footwear (runners). If students are unable to wear the school's nominated sports uniform, another change of appropriate clothing may be worn accompanied with a note from parents/carers, explaining the reason why the student is out of uniform. This ensures your son can still participate in the practical activities and further his sports related skills.
PDHPE Extracurricular - Gym Club
Increasing the health, physical skills and overall wellbeing of BBHS students is of utmost importance to the PDHPE Faculty. WIth this, PDHPE staff members give up their time to run Gym Club before and after school where students are encouraged to engage in fitness based activities and weight bearing exercises in order to improve their focus during learning, increase their energy levels and improve their overall health and wellbeing. Gym Club is offered to Year 10-12 students and any additional information can be sourced from one of our friendly PDHPE Teachers in the PDHPE staffroom.
