The Wanderers Cup is a regional competition throughout Western Sydney, facilitated by Western Sydney Wanderers FC, which brings together all cultures, abilities and personalities in the football world. It is a great initiative by our local Hyundai A-League team and has grown in popularity in its 4 years of existence.
Blacktown Boys' High School entered its fourth Wanderers Cup competition on Tuesday 29th August at Blacktown International Football Park. This was the widest competition reception ever, with teams from all over Blacktown and moving eastwards as far as Epping.
Blacktown Boys' had a difficult group, facing Rooty Hill, Cecil Hills and 2 teams from Epping Boys. In the group stage, 2 wins and 2 losses were not enough to see us qualify for the finals. Blacktown played some wonderful football, with quick counter attacks and some blistering pace, not dissimilar to a Red team in the English Premier League.
Thank you to the Western Sydney Wanderers who organised the fantastic competition.
Thank you also to all the boys who participated!
See you again next year!
